                                                                 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

                        WEBSTER PARISH POLICE JURY

                                       January 10, 2023

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Jim Bonsall, President; Steve Ramsey, Vice President; Daniel Thomas, Allen Gilbert, Vera Davison, Beverly Kennon, Randy Thomas, Bruce Blanton

Absent: Bernard Hudson ** District #8 and #12 vacant

Mr. Jim Bonsall called the meeting to order and asked Mr. Steve Lemmons to open the meeting with prayer. 

Mr. Steve Ramsey led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Bonsall then asked for additions to the agenda.

There were no comments from the audience concerning the agenda.

Mr. Nick Cox, Police Juror, Webster Parish Police Jury who served the Jury for 7 years submitted a letter of resignation and a letter of appreciation to the Jury and those whom he has worked with for those years.  Mr. Cox was elected as City of Minden, Mayor as of January 1, 2023. Mr. Cox, whose term expires on January 7, 2024 and therefore chose to resign as Webster Parish Police Juror, effective January 1, 2023.

Mr. Steve Ramsey moved, seconded by Ms. Vera Davison to appoint Mrs. Cayla Cox to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Nick Cox as Webster Parish Police Juror, District # 8 effective January 10, 2023.  Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Benjamin Ed Jordan, Police Juror, Webster Parish Police Jury who served the Jury for 3 years submitted a letter of resignation and a letter of appreciation to the Jury and those whom he has worked with for those years.  Mr. Jordan resigned to take a job pastoring a church in Washington Parish as of January 6, 2023. Mr. Jordan, whose term expires on January 7, 2024 and therefore chose to resign as Webster Parish Police Juror, effective January 6, 2023.

Mr. Bruce Blanton moved, seconded by Mr. Daniel Thomas to appoint Mr. Adam Lee to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Benjamin Ed Jordan as Webster Parish Police Juror, District # 12 effective January 10, 2023.  Motion carried unanimously.

Holli Vining, Webster Parish Clerk of Court then swore in Mr. Adam Lee as Webster Parish Police Juror, District 12, Webster Parish, Louisiana. 

Mr. Adam Lee addressed his appreciation to the jury of the appointment to District #12.

Mr. Jim Bonsall then gave Presidents’ closing remarks.

There being no further business to bring before the Jury, the meeting adjourned.
